SOHO PLAYA Hotel

We had to stay here in an emergency situation and although we were grateful to have a roof over our heads, I would not recommend this place. The evening staff were obviously very miserable, but the morning staff was very empathetic to our situation. So, unless you enjoy loud music, motorcycles zooming by at all hours, construction noises until the wee hours and starting at the crack of dawn, then have fun! And not to mention the very small fridge, roaches, dirty walls, mold in the shower, behind the sink and on the walls. Nope, never again.

This place is one of the worst hotel I have ever been at! First of all, the temperature of the water in the shower was not good at all . Most of the time we had to shower under freezing water . The bar at the pool wasn’t working at any time of the day , and the pool itself wasn’t so clean . To add the fact that the elevator wasn’t working well, and the breakfast (if we can even call it a breakfest) was just a bread with some spread ( we hadn’t eat this breakfast at any day ) . Except of the workers that were nice , and the room cleaning , nothing was worth visiting this hotel . We were in hostel before we came here and even the hostel was a lot better.

We stayed at Soho Playa for 5 nights and we were super comfortable. The rooms are big, have everything you need, a fridge, AC, big bathrooms, a little terrace, and they go above and beyond to make sure you have a great stay. I had some requests and they not only provided what I needed but exceeded my expectations. I read many reviews and people were complaining about the breakfast and i do not undertand, it is better than nothing, you get coffe and bread take it or leave it, it is included, at least it is something. Also it is very convenient that they are next to a juice/salad/poke bowl place, we ate there a few times. The location was really good, they came to clean once every two days which was good enough for us. I really wanted to thank Gabriela becuase she went above and beyond when i had a request, she helped us out so much during out stay. The only thing i would say they could improve is the common terrace in the pool area, it looks like it needs more maintenance, but it works for the purpose of using the pool to relax for a bit.

This hotel has been wonderful all the rooms have been styled well and are beautiful! The king suite deluxe was wonderful I would honestly have rather spent my entire honeymoon there instead of the all inclusive resort I went to. The other smaller rooms were still amazing and very clean and well maintained. The rooftop swimming pool was well maintained and relaxing. It's a shame they don't seem to have the bar functioning there anymore but I hope they get it up and running again soon. The staff here we're amazing! My wife and I were doing a lot of exploring and they were all super helpful and friendly when we asked questions or had special requests. I would definitely go here again without question!

We enjoyed our one night stay in Playa del Carmen and we were glad to have chosen this place. Our room was spacious, very clean and had modern furnishings. We booked our room to include a free breakfast (from the healthy cafe/shop next door) but it wasn't worth what we paid; small cup of coffee, 2 pieces of toast and a few small pieces of fruit. However, the hotel has an excellent location - close to the beach, shopping, restaurants and night life. As well, the hot tub on the balcony was amazing and we will definitely come back and book with Soho Playa Hotel again!....minus the free "breakfast."

Staff is friendly, rooms are always clean, the bar is closed on the top but we did our own rooftop party. The sunset is beautiful from the bar. Parking is free, the Salad bar on the ground level is fantastic! I really recommend this place to couples, friends and those who likes parties and the nightlife Negative: no minibar, no hammock :(
